An Introduction - Change is the beginning

This is my first blog and with good timing and preparation, it won't be my last one either.  My intentions with this blog are simple: to share, learn, inspire and hopefully spark a conversation with people around revolving endeavors to live a healthy lifestyle.

A Healthy Lifestyle? I can imagine these days people are tired of being told to exercise and or to eat healthily. But guess what, as a collective, we are killing ourselves...Obesity rates in the U.S. show that 38% of adults were overweight in 2016, flashforward just two years later some reports show that obesity rates among adults and children are only getting worse. Although reversing obesity rates may need policy and social changes there are several things each of us can do to individually care for our overall health and wellbeing.

The Keyword in taking control of your health is Lifestyle...

Things only change if you are willing to change, recognize what part of your life is causing harm to your health and do something about it!

Consider this: How we think is ultimately how we live our lives - That person must be "crazy" to be deprived of all those decadent desserts and mouthwatering entrees."

I must admit that I am also one who loves to eat (seriously who doesn't??) but I am also of the perspective that we are at times suffering from our own behaviors, meaning that a lot of our physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual wellbeing suffers because of the choices we make on a daily basis. At the risk of sounding ignorant, I will say this, yes you do have a choice in how healthy you are. You just have to understand what you can do to change and how to change, you've already answered the why part (feel tired all the time...), recognizing you need to change = self-awareness.

Healthy changes to your life will be more meaningful if you make the choice to change rather than doing it because your doctor or family/spouse was nagging you to make changes. Do this for YOU!

Important Note: Change only happens if you want to and the level to which you commit to that will determine if you stick with it, you have to play the long-term with your health, not always the short-term. And another thing: YES, IT MATTERS!

Reminder: Even though things don’t always go exactly as planned, you always have a choice in how you respond.

If your workouts aren’t giving you the results you want, change it. If your weight loss isn’t going according to plan, evaluate what needs to change but don’t stop your journey. Change is always better when you decide to make those changes, stop fighting yourself and help yourself instead.

Remember: YOU ALWAYS HAVE A CHOICE, ask yourself...What do you want? Why?

"If you want to take responsibility for your life, you must choose one of those three options, and you must choose now. Then accept the consequences"
Look at it from an interesting perspective than a scary perspective. This why it is important to note that what we say, how we say it, and how we perceive things matters, especially in regards to your health. Do something about it...
